# The Emerging Trend in the Storage Market

Nowadays the issue of data storage has become the highest priority for the enterprises. The Internet and Intranet(s) enable enterprises efficiently to generate, store, catalog and transfer data electronically. The Internet & Intranet(s) have also transformed the data centers of small to medium size companies to 7 x 24 data availability centers. Within the next 3 years market forecasters predict that we will generate more data than we have generated today.

# Dual Host High Availability Control Software for Host Failure Recovery - Dataware

DataWare series is a high availability, business continuous, load balancing application that allows two servers to be connected together forming a cluster. The function of this cluster is to keep data flowing even if one of the servers fails.

To accomplish this fail-over mechanism, DataWare performs functions such as redundant resources management, failure detection, isolation and recovery, logging and notification tasks. DataWare was designed to take real-time actions to resolve real-time nonstandard events. DataWare establishes a cost effective, highly efficient clustered environment for mission critical, business continuous applications, such as retail point-of-sale, online banking, claims processing, telemarketing, RDBMS, Internet and other transaction-oriented applications.

# Features:

# Load balancing:

Applications can be executed on either server. (i.e. one server can be running Microsoft IIS Wed server, the other server running Microsoft SQL Server applications).

# Restart:

Any failure that causes operation interrupts will first be resolved locally (e.g., restart on original server). If the operation can not be resumed, all related resource objects will fail over to the peer server in a minimum time span.

# Automatic client connection:

You do not need to notify or reconfigure the clients when an application has failed over to the peer server. When an application fails over, the peer server assumes the identity of the original server for that application.

# Automatic events-trigger:

System administrators can specify script files that DataWare automatically starts in response to certain events.

# Automatic or manual fail-over:

In addition to Automatic fail-over, DataWare can be configured for manual fail-over mode. This feature frees up one of the servers to perform functions such as trouble shooting, upgrading and/or scheduled maintenance without causing long interruptions to one or more client applications .
